Testing of your firewall & computer!
An UP-TO-DATE firewall should be your FIRST line of defense against an unwanted intrusion into your computer via the internet.  That should be followed by good, UP-TO-DATE anti-virus and anti-malware programs.

There are a number of reputable on-line sites that offer free, reliable, and safe checks of the intrusion protection software on your computer.  Listed below are the best that I have found!

The "ShieldsUP!" test from Gibson Research is the best on-line overall test I have found.  Gibson has nothing to gain but good will, as they sell no firewall or anti-virus software.
They have been around MANY years and have a wonderful product called SpinRite designed to recover and fix "CRASHED" hard drives!  It has saved my bacon MANY times over the years after hard drive failures.
Also, check their site for other FREE system utilities!!

"Housecall" by Trend Micro is a very good on-line test to run to check your computer for all sorts of mal-ware.  On my computers, it has actually caught things that their PCcillin antivirus didn't find!

Rating:  5 STARS!

I use the Trend Micro PC-cillin Internet Security 2007 Suite on several computers I am in charge of, and this test actually detected problems that their PCcillin didn't!  Rating:  4-1/2 STARS!
